Fleet continue traditional community role

The club were once more delighted to host the Mayor of Gravesham’s traditional Boundary Walk – ‘Beating the Bounds’ – on the morning of the Hampton & Richmond game last weekend.

Mayor Cllr Lyn Milner and residents set off from the Kuflink Stadium for an 18-mile first-day trek. ‘Beating the Bounds’ (the boundaries of Gravesham borough) is an ancient tradition involving a two-day walk of 35 miles, six of those along the River Thames, with refreshment stops and pubs along the way!

They didn’t go on an empty stomach, however, as the Fleet issued the walkers with bacon rolls and coffee to set them up just right for the first stage on Saturday.

The Kuflink Stadium has been the starting point for the walk on several occasions over the past few years. All funds raised from sponsorship of the walkers go to the Mayor’s nominated charities – this year, Ellenor Lions Hospice in Northfleet and the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services in Gravesham.
