Whitely goes Welsh in EFL move

Corey Whitely is the second Fleet player to move up a division this summer as he completed a move to League Two play-off finalists Newport County earlier today.

This follows on the heels of former teammate Ebou Adams’ move to Newport’s fellow play-off contenders Forest Green Rovers last week, both for undisclosed fees.

The 27-year-old Whitely, who signed for the Fleet from Dagenham & Redbridge in February 2018, will now get his first shot at EFL football having moved into the National League via Sunday football and a prolific spell at Enfield Town.

Whitely played in successive play-off campaigns with Dagenham and then the Fleet and in his time at the Kuflink Stadium he scored 11 goals in 64 games (50 starts).

The club wishes him all the very best during his time in Wales and for his future career.
