Martin maintains his mantle at the Fleet

Defender Joe Martin will be part of Dennis Kutrieb’s squad heading into the 2023/24 Vanarama National League season as the former England youth full-back agreed a new contract.

Another player heading into his third season in the red shirt, Martin was a summer 2021 signing who had been with Stevenage the previous year. The experienced 34-year-old played Championship football for Blackpool, earned promotion with GiIlingham into League One and also represented Millwall in a 14-year EFL career across almost 400 matches.

Joe Martin featured in nine of Fleet’s vital matches heading into the business end of the season following his return from injury

With the Fleet, Martin has been a regular in defence, playing in the 2022 Promotion Final and making 23 appearances last term as he returned from an injury on New Year’s Day to take a full part in the title run-in from March.

Son of England international Alvin, Joe passed the half-century mark of appearances for the Fleet at the beginning of April and will head into the new National League season as another important and hugely experienced personality in the manager’s dressing room.
