The boys are literally back in town!

It’s perhaps fitting that after so long apart from fans, the first opportunity to see the Fleet in action since that solitary friendly last season at Hornchurch is to be had in Gravesend!

A Dennis Kutrieb team plays in front of its own supporters for only the second time since the manager’s appointment in tonight’s meeting with Punjab United at the SCEFL club’s Steve Cook Stadium.

Fleet played Punjab in last season’s preparation games, winning 8-2 at the Kuflink Stadium, but this will be the first visit to the local club’s revamped ground that many supporters will previously know as the AEI or Elite venue. The squad have been in training all week ahead of the pre-season games kicking off with tonight’s match and then followed by a visit to Chatham Town on Wednesday night.

All smiles as the boys are back to hard work on the training ground

Punjab have organised an annual cup event called the Steve Cook Cup in memory of the much-loved figure in local sports circles and have designated tonight’s match as such.

Tickets are £5 on the door with kick-off at 7pm.

Punjab are well into their stride already, having taken part in the Non-League Diversity Tournament where they recorded a 1-0 win over Sporting Bengal and 3-1 defeats to Sporting Khalsa and Leicester Nirvana. Most recently, they battled out a 2-2 draw with VCD Athletic.

Directions to the Steve Cook Stadium on Dunkirk Close can be found here.
