Manager’s Update | 07.10.2023

It feels like forever since we were last at the Kuflink what with the run of away games we’ve had recently and I’m certain both myself and the group are excited to play in front of a home Fleet crowd again.

We’ve been back on our travels, with a trip down to the coast in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup against Herne Bay last Sunday.

We’ve started to find some rhythm now with a very controlled 5-1 win to book our place in the next round at home to Oxford City. Away trips to lower-tier teams can always be a tricky one, and I’m particularly impressed with how we approached the game. On another day we could have forced an even more convincing scoreline.

On the whole it was an encouraging performance, an opportunity to rotate the squad, and nice to welcome back Ash Naismith in goal for the first time this season as well as Teni Charles on her return from international duty.

In further good news to wrap up the week, we successfully appealed Millie Waud’s red card for wrongful dismissal, and Charley Clifford’s surgery was successful and she will hopefully be back sooner rather than later.

We turn attention back to the league, with Enfield at home tomorrow followed by a midweeker under the lights at home to Dartford on 17th October in what I hope is a real opportunity to stamp our authority on our objectives for the season.

Hopefully we can see as many of you here as possible to help pack the stadium out across our next two home games – there’s nothing like a home crowd!
