Fleet take to the Championship stage

The Fleet travelled to Championship club Wycombe Wanderers yesterday in a training match played at the home club’s 10,000-capacity Adams Park.

A goal in each half from Alex Samuel and Scott Kashket handed the Chairboys a 2-0 win in another keenly contested 90 minutes. Moments before the opening goal, Jordan Holmes pulled off a fantastic save from a thunderous goalbound strike. Fleet were well in the game against strong opponents, with the best chance coming early in the second half, Adam Mekki’s searching pass finding Rakish Bingham; he pulled the ball back for Lee Martin whose excellent shot whistled just over the bar.

Taking advantage of the international break, Wycombe’s starting side included numerous players who had made a significant number of appearances in the Championship this season.

It was Fleet’s first ever visit to Adams Park, with previous games against Wycombe coming either at home (1962 and 1989 in the FA Cup) or at their former ground, Loakes Park (1989 FA Cup).

Dennis Kutrieb’s side was as follows: Holmes, Adebayo-Rowling, Solly, Kahraman (Frempah), Trialist A (Trialist B), Wood (West), Mekki, Paxman (Trialist C), Martin, Bingham (Chapman), Poleon (Eirich).
