Fleet get the Ball rolling on the week

Ebbsfleet United are delighted to announce our next new signing – midfielder James Ball – as the latest to join Garry Hill’s squad.

The 23-year-old Bolton-born box-to-box player signs from Stevenage after spending last season in League Two.

James began his career in Bolton’s academy, playing on loan for Hyde United, before he went on to represent Northwich Victoria and Stalybridge Celtic.

His big breakthrough came with Stockport County when he signed at Edgeley Park in 2016. His form there saw him sign a two-year contract extension inside his first six months and he was a key fixture in the club’s central midfield berth.

He managed seven goals in County’s final 11 games of the 2017/18 season to help them into the National League North play-offs, making 48 appearances in all competitions during that campaign.

Stevenage paid an undisclosed five-figure sum for his services last summer and he scored four goals in 21 appearances for Boro in 2018/19. Stevenage boss Dino Maamria described him as “big, strong, box-to-box and can cover a lot of ground and can score goals from midfield”.

Check out a few Ball specials below from his time at Stockport…
