Cunnington comes in from Cambridge

Ebbsfleet United are pleased to announce their latest signing – with striker Adam Cunnington agreeing terms on an 18-month contract to move from Cambridge United to the PHB Stadium.

The 27-year-old forward was the Conference’s second top scorer while at Tamworth and last season helped fire Cambridge to promotion into League Two. Standing 6ft 3in, Adam played for Barton Rovers, Leighton, Aylesbury United and Hitchin Town before really starting to bang in the goals at Barwell.

That earned him a move to Solihull Moors in 2010/11 and then on to Kettering Town and Dagenham & Redbridge under John Still as his reputation and goal rate increased. In 2012 he spent a period on loan at Alfreton Town before signing for Tamworth where he enjoyed a fruitful season in 2012/13, scoring 21 league goals. This earned him a move and a two-year contract at Cambridge where he scored 10 goals in 31 games as part of the side that won promotion to the Football League, playing in the 2013/14 promotion final.

He started the U’s Football League campaign as one of their main strikers though moved to Bristol Rovers on a three-month loan earlier this season, scoring three times, before Jamie Day made his move for the proven goalscorer.

Day told FleetOnline, “Adam is a player I’ve seen a fair bit of in his time at Cambridge and he’s played at all levels – Conference Premier, North and League Two. He’ll be a good addition to the squad and he’s got plenty of goals in him so it’s great to have him on board.”
