Brown bags Basey

Ebbsfleet United can confirm the signing of former Charlton, Peterborough and Wycombe defender Grant Basey. The 24-year-old, predominantly a left back who can also play in the centre of defence and on the left of midfield, is a former Wales U19 and U21 international and played more than 50 games in the Championship for the Addicks after graduating from their academy side.

After a spell on loan at Brentford, he moved to Barnet in the summer of 2010 and then onto Peterborough later that season, helping the Posh win promotion from League One via a Wembley play-off final. He was rewarded with a contract extension until the end of the 2011-12 season, before moving permananetly to Wycombe in January 2012 after a previous spell on loan at Adams Park.

His 2012-13 campaign was curtailed by injury and following his release by the League Two club, and a return to full fitness, he goes straight into the Fleet squad to face Sittingbourne and Weston-super-Mare this week.
