Fleet land Carlisle away in FA Cup draw

Ebbsfleet United’s reward for beating Woking in yesterday’s FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round Qualifying tie is a 680-mile round trip to Carlisle United, with the match to be played on Saturday November 3, subject to TV coverage. Fleet’s ball, No.80, was drawn last – the second round running that has happened.

Moses Ashikodi’s 87th-minute winner at Kingfield means Fleet will renew acquaintances with a side they last played for Liam Daish’s first game in charge back in February 2005, when goals from Jay Saunders and Matt Lovell earned a 2-2 draw. Poetic justice would perhaps see the manager’s side go one better in his record-breaking season.

Fleet also travelled to and knocked Carlisle out of the FA Cup exactly 50 years ago – in our historic 1962/63 season – Tony Sitford’s 20th minute goal enough to take us to a Fourth Round tie against Sunderland.
