Fleet boss Jamie Day was delighted with his side’s win at Bromley yesterday but knows that ultimately it will only mean anything if his side can build on it next week against Maidenhead United and beyond.
“Obviously we need to get on a run to try and catch teams above us,” Day told BBC Radio Kent. “We’ve got to kick on now and use what we did today positively going into next Saturday.
“It was a good performance by the boys, I thought we played well and deserved to get the win.”
And Day was impressed as much by the returning Matt Godden’s efforts as by his superb winning strike. “Iโm pleased for Matt, heโs done well the last couple of games and he deserved it. Heโs worked really hard to get himself back fit and heโs a player that I watched last year. Iโve seen enough this year to know what heโs capable of doing. Heโs confident at the minute and Iโm pleased with the way heโs been playing.
“Iโd like to get a few more attacking players back, I only had Os on the bench today but weโre slowly getting there and over the past couple of weeks Iโve been pleased with the progress we made, weโve just not got enough points. Weโve drawn too many games. But people who watched the game today would hopefully agree we were the better side and showed what weโre capable of doing.
“We have to take each game as it is and just be consistent in our performances. I think weโve slowly been getting there and weโve got to take this into training next week and into Maidenhead and the rest of the games.”
