The Fleet haven’t quite joined the artificial pitch revolution but from next season, assistant referees and those on the home and away benches at the Kuflink Stadium will feel the benefit.
The sidelines on the Main Stand side of the pitch have had artificial grass installed to prevent wear and tear on that well-used area of the ground, as well as it being extended into the players’ tunnel.
Fleet’s general manager Dave Archer said, “This is obviously an area that gets a lot of wear throughout the season with linesmen constantly running up and down as well as heavy traffic from those in the dugouts. It was noticeable to us all during the tail end of last season’s campaign. We have acted quickly this year to put that right and I must say the team from Mr. Grass came in for only one day and have done a magnificent job”.
