Shaq’s back on the attack

Launching into his third campaign with the Fleet will be Shaq Coulthirst after the striker signed a new contract to keep him at the Kuflink Stadium into the 2023/24 season.

The National League will hold no surprises for the 28-year-old who played for Barnet for several seasons, as well as Boreham Wood at non-league’s top tier.

Coulthirst was a mid-season signing for the Fleet in 2021/22 from Billericay Town, scoring five times in three months to help the club into the playoffs. He added six more last season to land a title winners’ medal along with eight assists, taking his tally at the club to 11 goals from 31 starts and 21 appearances from the bench.

The former Barnet striker – a veteran of several FA Cup runs and giantkillings – began his career in Tottenham’s academy and made League One and Two appearances for the likes of Torquay United, Southend United, York City, Peterborough United and Mansfield Town before settling at The Hive.

He was named one of manager Dennis Kutrieb’s three top trainers at the club’s end-of-season awards in April, going on to finish his season in style with a goal and an assist against Hungerford Town in the final-day demolition of the Crusaders.
