The football club was saddened to learn of the passing of our former chairman and chief executive John Moules following a period of illness.
John held his position at the club during the MyFootballClub ownership period, performing the CEO role in addition to his chairmanship from 2008–09.
He had a long career in the game aside from his role with the Fleet, with many proud years served as a referee to a high level on the National List until 1994. He also held positions as a national referee assessor for both the Premier League and the Football Association and from 1999-2007 was CEO of the Football Conference (now National League).
Locally, he was hugely involved in Kent county football – he was Vice Chair of the SCEFL, involved with the Kent County and Kent Invicta leagues, a member of the Kent FA Council and Chair of the Referee’s Committee. Many of these roles John also performed unpaid and on a voluntary level, while also contributing greatly to grassroots athletics clubs.
He worked alongside numerous Fleet staff, many of whom are still involved with the club today and all of us here at the Kuflink Stadium offer our condolences and support to John’s family and many friends in football.
• John’s funeral will be held at 12.30 on Tuesday 22nd August at Kemnal Park (BR7 6RR) and afterwards at The Oaks, Eltham Town FC (SE9 2TD).
