Belgian Bryan boosts back line

Former Antwerp left-back Bryan van den Bogaert signs for the club today as Daryl McMahon reinforces a defence that has been increasingly light on bodies in recent weeks.

Van den Bogaert has been recruited with the injured Joe Howe a couple of weeks away from a return, Aiden Palmer also on the injury list and Craig Braham-Barrett out on loan at Whitehawk. Dean Pooley has covered that position over Christmas but he is due to take part in a Mitsubishi Electric charity event in the Far East soon and McMahon wanted to shore up the gap as Fleet enter the final half of the season.

The Antwerp-born defender, 24, who can also cover a central defensive position, began his career at Belgian Third Division club Cappellen FC and spent last season at Antwerp in the Second Division.

He moved to England in the summer, winning a short-term contract with Crawley Town in League Two, before moving to Whitehawk and making his debut in their 2-2 draw at Stonebridge Road.
