Academy launch Kent Senior Cup campaign

Fleet will send an Academy side to BetVictor Isthmian South East side Ramsgate on Tuesday night in Round 2 of the Kent Senior Cup.

Ramsgate are struggling second from bottom in the league with just two wins to their name this season but their senior side will be a stern test for Fleet’s U19s. The home side will be without at least three first-teamers after injuries to Tom Chapman and Matty Robinson while two others face fitness tests and Jude Arthurs is cup-tied.

The Rams beat Sittingbourne on penalties in the previous round and in 2016 enjoyed a 5-0 win over another young Fleet side in the same competition.

They are on their third management team of the season with Matt Longhurst having taken over a few weeks ago. And the East Kent side have a familiar face in their team, with former Fleet defender Phil Starkey in their squad. Ex- Fleet goalkeeper Jonathan Miles has just departed the club, having played for the Rams earlier this season.

A largely Academy side represented the Fleet in last season’s Kent Senior Cup, winning at Sevenoaks on penalties but bowing at Tonbridge Angels in the following round.

A place in the quarter-finals is up for grabs, with Gillingham, Whitstable Town, Phoenix Sports, Ashford United and Dover Athletic already there.

Ticket prices are: Adults – £10.00; Concessions (60+ & Students aged 16-18) – £5.00; Unemployed – £1.00 (evidence required at turnstiles); and U15s free.
