Tony Stewart RIP

It is with great sadness that the Fleet can confirm that long-term season-ticket holder and Lounge member Tony Stewart has passed away after a short illness.

Tony‘s family were all Fleet fans and when he gave up playing for Gravesend Hockey Club more than 30 years ago, he became a regular at Stonebridge Road with his family.

Supporters who frequented both old and new forums may remember him by his usernames of DavesNan and Slartibartfast and he made many friends and football acquaintances on those, contributing myriad thoughts and opinions down the years.

He will be sadly missed in the Lounge, especially by those who have sat with him before home games and on away visits.

Tony rarely missed a Fleet home game and enjoyed some great away trips, especially play-off wins at Farnborough, Aldershot and of course the FA Trophy Final at Wembley.

He was a loyal and friendly supporter, a level-headed but careful thinker when it came to all things Fleet and he could always be relied upon to give wise counsel, whether it was to club officials or fellow supporters and friends at the ground.

Everyone here at the club joins with all our supporters in sending our thoughts and condolences to Tony’s family and wider circle of friends and he will undoubtedly be missed amongst all those he associated with at Stonebridge Road.
