Taylor made for the Fleet

Ebbsfleet United tonight welcome 32-goal striker Joe Taylor to the club and he will go straight into the squad for tonight’s fixture at Slough Town.

The 29-year-old Kent-born hitman joins on loan from Cray Wanderers having last season won the Isthmian Premier Player of the Year at the National Game Awards.

He bagged 26 league goals and 32 in all competitions for the Wands in 38 appearances last season before lockdown prevented that impressive scoring tally from climbing even higher. Such rich goalscoring form attracted plenty of interest in the hotshot striker from National League clubs over the summer but he opted to stay with Cray for another crack at promotion with the club.

The striker has been front runner for various golden boot awards throughout his career, having previously played for Margate, Folkestone Invicta, Farnborough, Sittingbourne, and Ramsgate, amassing more than 200 goals in his career to date.

He had already scored 13 for Cray this season before football at Steps 3 and below was suspended in November and he spent a short time at Welling United earlier this year.

While goals are uppermost in his game, Joe’s attributes include a high level of workrate, the ability to lead the line and link play, together with a first-rate attitude.
