A July 2017 signing from Barnet, Luke Coulson was well known to Fleet fans when he scored two excellent goals against us playing for Oxford City. The versatile St Helens-born player favours a wide midfield position but is equally at home on the left or right flanks, at full back and in central berths. Luke spent nine years in Manchester City’s ranks and appeared for Cardiff City in an FA Cup tie before signing for Oxford City in the summer of 2015.
He quickly established himself as one of the National League South’s most exciting midfielders and on two occasions and it wasn’t long before other clubs came calling, with Eastleigh paying a club record fee to sign him in January 2016. More fantastic form in the National League had scouts in the Football League taking an interest and in January 2017, Eastleigh sold him to Barnet, again for a club record fee. He played 15 times for the Bees in League Two before the Fleet paid a fee for him on the eve of the 2017/18 season. He enjoyed an excellent first season at the club, scoring 11 goals, many of them from long range as he became an instant favourite with the home crowd.
