Biography: Gozie Ugwu

Now in his third spell with the club, having signed from Chesterfield in the summer of 2019, Gozie is a tall, powerful and mobile striker who began his career in the Reading academy. His first taste of senior football came in a first loan spell with the Fleet in 2012, when he scored four goals in 10 appearances. He then played on loan for Yeovil Town, making his Football League debut, as well as Plymouth Argyle and Shrewsbury Town.

On release from Reading, he signed for Dunfermline Athletic, scoring seven goals in 14 Scottish League One appearances, before he returned to Yeovil Town and then Wycombe Wanderers. His best season came in 2016/17 at Woking, where he was among the division’s top scorers, persuading Chesterfield to take him back into the Football League.

Gozie spent time on loan with Boreham Wood in 2018/19 before reuniting with his former Woking manager Garry Hill at the Fleet for a second spell last season when he scored against both Maidstone United and Wrexham.
