2018/2019 KEY STATS
Biography: Cody McDonald
Garry Hill’s first signing as Fleet boss, the experienced striker signed in November 2018 after departing AFC Wimbledon.
The scorer of more than 100 goals at EFL level, Cody started out banging goals in for non-league sides Witham Town, Maldon and Dartford. His form for Dartford earned that club a fee in 2009 when Norwich City snapped him up. He played in the Championship and League One for the Canaries, helping them to promotion in 2009/10.
In two loan spells at Gillingham, he scored 29 goals in 50 games, in between which he spent two seasons with Coventry City who paid a fee for his signature in 2011. Gillingham signed McDonald on a permanent deal in 2013 and he spent four successful years with the club, notching 77 goals in 200 games for the Gills. In summer 2017 he moved on to AFC Wimbledon for a season. He was an immediate hit at the Fleet, scoring three goals from five starts last season before a cruciate knee injury ended his campaign. Still recovering from that, he is aiming for an autumn 2019 return to action.
