Staff at the Fleet are ready and waiting to welcome all our attendees for the 17th April Beer Garden at the Kuflink Stadium. Your spaces are divided up on the Plough End side of the pitch, all raffle-ticket entries to date have been received and processed, our supporters’ player of the year and Bruce Sewell award trophies await their new owners and we’re eager to take the wraps off our 75th Anniversary kit finally.
For your safety and convenience, below is a brief guide with handy reminders for the day ahead. Like all establishments reopening since April 12th, we do have rather stringent guidelines we have to follow under the current rules and we ask you to be patient and understanding in helping us to meet them.
Car Parking and Entrance
There is car-parking available behind the Swanscombe End in the club car park. For access to the ground, you will need to do so via the Main Gate next to the home turnstiles. The entrance at the Swanscombe End will not be manned. Please give our entrance staff your name and if your space was booked in by someone else, if possible also the name of the main booker. You will need to undergo a temperature check and confirm you have no symptoms. We would also request that you download the NHS Test & Trace app and scan in your arrival on the QR code.
Gates Open and Start Time
The first-team players will be winding down their morning training session from about 11am when the gates open and you are welcome to watch the conclusion of this from your pitch space. Drink and food orders will begin from about 11.30am.
Ordering Food & Drink
Our waiting staff will take your food and drink orders from the printed menus given to you. We are only accepting card payments at present – our waiting staff will be able to accept these on our portable card machines but please once again be patient as they serve and attend to all our attendees. Anyone who has pre-ordered food, we will issue you with an approximate time for serving. Unfortunately, as a licensed premises we cannot permit people to bring in their own food and drink.
You can buy raffle tickets throughout the day for our prize draw around 3.00pm.
Toilet facilities will be signposted around the ground. We would ask that nobody lingers inside or around the stadium perimeter on their way to or from these facilities but returns to their space.
Please remember to bring facemasks with you and wear them on entry and exit and whenever you need to use the toilet. They may of course be removed while seated in your space but are mandatory for moving around elsewhere. Please also wear flat shoes to eliminate any overdue wear and tear on the pitch.
Please Remain Seated
Given that guidelines state drinkers in beer gardens should be seated, we are required to implement this and would ask that you remain seated within your space at all times except when visiting the toilets or otherwise invited. Our staff are on hand should you have any queries about the rules. You may bring your own portable chairs and we’d definitely recommend a blanket or two as well!
With gates opening at 11am, we aim to begin food and drink service around 11.30 with kids’ penalties at the Swanscombe End from 12.00pm. Our master of ceremonies Dave Lockwood will be talking with a few of the club management and staff throughout the afternoon. Meanwhile, the player of the year and Bruce Sewell award presentations will take place around 1pm and there is a chance to get to grips with the rules of Walking Football as our excellent Over 50s side are on hand to explain the basics. Around 2.15pm we will reveal the 75th Anniversary kits and they will be available for pre-order there and then while our kitman Rob Mucci will also have a sale of kitroom and training wear. Fleet legend Jimmy Jackson will be drawing the raffle winners for our new shirt and a special spot prize for one of our ‘space’ bookings. There will also be a minute’s silence to observe the funeral taking place of The Duke of Edinburgh.
Other than that…
…sit back, relax and enjoy being back at your spiritual home! We’ll certainly enjoy having you back!
