Manager Daryl McMahon took the positives from Saturday’s game and hailed a good point away from home.

“They’ve started well,” he told BBC Radio Kent’s Charles Webster about Hungerford Town. “The three boys up front have got pace. They’re used to winning and it’s a sloping pitch, a hot day and we’ve got six out injured so I thought it was a good point.

“Stuey Lewis and Sam Deering came on and gave us a little bit more impetus and energy. Until that it was a little bit of a dead game.”

The Fleet boss also reserved praise for returning striker Charlie Sheringham who capped his first start for five months with a goal. “Charlie’s had three days training and no pre-season games,” McMahon said. “So to come and do how he did today is testament to how he looks after himself. We’ll see how he reacts Monday morning because I’m sure he’ll be tired.”

McMahon also had some good news on the injury front with Danny Kedwell and Mark Phillips potentially in the frame for Tuesday.

“We’ll find out Monday morning [about Danny Kedwell],” McMahon explained. “He’s our talisman and if he’s fit we’ll get him out there. We’ve had some good news about Mark Phillips today who should be back too.”
