King of the road

Skipper Jack King is the Fleet man raising money for charity in the latest football-related fundraiser for the NHS.

Hartlepool United defender Myles Anderson has begun a campaign called ‘Myles for the NHS’ and already chalked up £3,000.

He and fellow National League footballers are seeking to raise a substantial amount of money for NHS Charities Together, whilst bringing people together at the same time.

At 3pm today (Tuesday), participants from all fifth-tier clubs will run in an hour-long fundraiser, live on the @myles_for_the_nhs Instagram account.

With King one of the stars of the show in the recent Fleet-supported 5k run, he’s the man who will be taking part in the ‘Myles For the NHS’ this afternoon.

“Our aim for the hour is to get a member from each Vanarama National League club on the live video,” said Hartlepool’s Anderson.

“We’re putting our rivalries to one side and working as a team to raise money for the NHS. National League footballers are hard-working, humble guys. It is a great opportunity for the supporters to be proud of something we are creating together”.

NHS Charities Together is currently running a National campaign “NHS Charities Covid-19 Urgent Appeal”. All donations will contribute towards NHS staff, volunteers and patients impacted by Covid-19.

Funding wellbeing packs, supporting isolated patients and providing longer term mental health support are just a few examples of how your donations will be used to help.
