Fleet’s dementia awareness day

Ebbsfleet United are delighted to be supporting local charity Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services with our first Dementia Awareness day at the Kuflink Stadium on Good Friday (10th April).

The local organisation is Kent’s biggest independent charity dedicated to providing support to people affected by dementia. The charity was established in 1991 working in the North Kent Area. You can find more out about them via their website here.

Volunteers from the charity will be holding a bucket collection on matchday and prior to kick-off v Boreham Wood on the morning of Good Friday. Fleet fans are also being invited to attend a session from 11am-12pm, where they can become Dementia Friends and support the work of the national initiative that has spread awareness and promoted better understanding of dementia and its many different forms.

The session will be run by Fleet’s very own matchday announcer, Dave Lockwood, who is a Dementia Friends champion. He said, “Most of us will know someone or know of someone who has been affected by dementia and I’m pleased the club has given us this opportunity to both heighten awareness and raise funds. If any fans or friends of the club would be interested in attending on the day or with a view to helping the charity in some way, I’ll be delighted to welcome you to the Kuflink Stadium on Good Friday before the Boreham Wood game.”

Admission is free and available to a maximum of 30 participants. You can sign up via the form below and Dave will confirm details in due course via email.
