The Kuflink Stadium pitch has benefited from what will be a three-week break by the time of our next home game, while Verti-Draining has been taking place on it this week.
Carried out by Jordans Sports Grounds Solutions Ltd, the Verti-Drain process involves deep spiking up to 20-30cm. It helps relieve compaction and waterlogging, improve root growth, aeration and drainage and can also aid in reducing layering in the sub-soil.
Verti-Drain machines insert equally spaced holes in the turf which allow water and air to filter through to the grass roots.
With reduced stormy weather hopefully ahead of us, the process will allow for short-term improvement of the playing surface with four more crucial home games to come.
