Everyone at Ebbsfleet United would like to issue huge congratulations to John Snow on winning the December award for Volunteer of the Month in the Vanarama National League South.
The Fleet season-ticket holder and long-time supporter was chosen from a field of nominations by Vanarama and we were delighted to hand over his trophy on behalf of the league sponsors.
John is one of the Fleet’s regular volunteers on matchdays and at many other times as needed, a role that has carried new responsibilities in recent months with additional Covid guidelines being required for all at the ground.
He has been helping out at the club for many years and manages the workload with his colleague Chris Judge and other Trust and club volunteers, taking full responsibility for what needs to be done on a daily basis. So far this season he has been involved in painting the pitch walls and adding the yellow lines to the terraces which in itself is a huge job – and particularly important due to social distancing once fans are allowed back.
John has also spent a great amount of time removing trees and weed growth from around the concourse and has contributed to the overall maintenance of the Kuflink Stadium.
Fleet CEO Damian Irvine said of the award, “This is richly deserved and shows how a strong volunteer ethos such as John’s benefits the club and the staff here. John takes on a job and completes it off his own back and I am delighted this due recognition has come his way in a role that can often be overlooked behind the scenes to the casual observer – but never by us here at the club. John’s efforts and those of his colleague Chris and numerous other volunteers and Trust members are extremely beneficial and we value them greatly – as I’m sure do all Fleet supporters, especially when they get back to the ground to appreciate all of the hard work.”
