Fleet host Linnets in Trophy tie

Ebbsfleet United have been handed a home tie against National League North leaders and conquerors of Dover Athletic, King’s Lynn Town, in Round 2 of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The Linnets beat Dover on penalties last Saturday and are currently three points clear at the top of their division, ahead of York City.

The Norfolk side were only promoted from the Southern League Premier Central Division in 2017/18 and are looking for back-to-back promotions into the National League for the first time.

King’s Lynn boast former Fleet striker Michael Gash amongst their ranks and are managed by former Norwich City defender Ian Culverhouse.

The Fleet played Town’s predecessor club, King’s Lynn, 18 times between 1958 and 1997, all of those in the Southern League. Our last game, at Lynn’s The Walks ground, ended in a 5-0 defeat in 1997! Fleet have won four and drawn seven of those matches.

As well as seeing off Dover in the Trophy, King’s Lynn have also beaten Hereford, Alfreton Town and Leek Town in cup ties this season.

The tie will be played at the Kuflink Stadium on Saturday, 11th January.
