Fleet duo depart this summer

The club wishes our two departing players the very best of fortune as their moves away from the Kuflink Stadium were confirmed today.

Defender Sefa Kahraman and midfielder Alfie Egan have opted to pursue new challenges away from the Fleet and they leave with our warmest wishes after two and three seasons’ excellent service respectively.

Kahraman, 25, made a big personal sacrifice and commitment over the last two years in leaving his home in Germany during the pandemic to join Dennis Kutrieb at the Fleet – and he will now explore new opportunities and consider his options back on the continent.

The former Tennis Borussia Berlin defender played 44 times for the Fleet in all, scoring against Hungerford Town last season. As a club, we of course commend his superb professionalism throughout that time but aside from his actions on the pitch, Sefa made friends wherever he went around the club with players, staff and supporters alike and while we will all miss his presence around Ebbsfleet United, we wish him well for his next venture in football and in life.

Likewise Alfie Egan, who joined us fresh from release by AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2019 and spent very different three seasons growing and developing as a player. The 24-year-old represented the club 72 times, scoring six goals in his time with us. He returned from injury late last season to cement a place in the promotion final side after two years of blossoming under Dennis Kutrieb’s management, to richly deserve his elevation into the National League and a new challenge with Boreham Wood.

We would also like to issue congratulations to former loanee goalkeeper Louie Moulden, another who represented us so well through the play-offs, as the Wolves U23 earned a six-month move to National League side Solihull Moors.

As a club, we reiterate our stated custom of ‘once a red, always a red’ and all our departed players are of course welcome back to see us at matches at any point in the future.
