Fleet boss wins monthly award

Dennis Kutrieb has been named the Vanarama National League South Manager of the Month for October after a run of victories that saw Fleet into the top four and Round One of the Emirates FA Cup.

In total, Fleet won three league games and two FA Cup ties in the calendar month, scoring nine goals and conceding just the once.

Dennis becomes the first Fleet boss to earn the manager of the month for more than three years. Fleet CEO Damian Irvine told the club website, “This is fantastic recognition for all the hard work, dedication and commitment by Dennis and all the backroom staff for not only the month of October but everything they’ve put in place through pre-season and before.

“Of course it’s early days and no club wins anything in October โ€“ we have a busy November coming up, and an equally busy December and beyond and that’s what Dennis will be fully focused on moving forward. But this award shows the direction we’re heading in and want to continue heading and I know all our fans will join me in congratulating Dennis and his team.”

Player of the month in our division went to Shaun Jeffers of St Albans City.

The release from the Vanarama National League following Dennis’s award stated, “The National League South is seriously starting to take shape – so itโ€™s high time we put some trophies in hands. Weโ€™re delighted to present the divisionโ€™s Manager, Player and the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month to you as the season really starts to take shape.

German managers making it big in English football is hardly a new thing, but one trying his luck in the sixth tier is somewhat of a novelty.

When youโ€™ve got countrymen Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel to look up to, you could forgive a sense of invincibility.ย

Dennis Kutrieb is certainly starting to make a name for himself at Ebbsfleet United.

In October, his team won all five matches, including two FA Cup ties and they took nine points from nine in the National League South.

They beat Slough Town, Braintree Town and Eastbourne Borough as finally, after a few tough seasons, the club appears to be on the up once more.
