Fleet Youth bow out of cup

Ebbsfleet United bow out of the FA Youth Cup at the First Round stage as Northampton triumph at Stonebridge Road.

Ebbsfleet United’s young stars missed out on a home Second Round tie with either Yeovil Town or Tiverton Town after going down 3-0 to a useful Northampton Town side. The Cobblers, with a reputation for having a very useful youth academy, gained the upper hand after Joe Benjamin netted in the first half.

The Fleet tried to gain a foothold in the second half but the League club’s youngsters added to their tally with Shaun Goodall and Alex Dyer finding the net.

It was nevertheless a valiant try and decent run in the competition by the Youth side who were watched by 181 fans tonight.
