Fleet fall at Harriers hurdle

Charley Hearn’s first goal for the club fails to keep Fleet’s play-off momentum going…

KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 2-1 EBBSFLEET UNITED

In-form Kidderminster moved above the Fleet in the table and ultimately snuffed out Liam Daish’s attempts to keep pace with the top five after racing into a two-goal lead inside the first quarter. Iyseden Christie set the ball rolling on just four minutes when he drove low past Lance Cronin and it got worse for the Fleet eight minutes later when Russell Penn netted a similar opportunity.

Charley Hearn dragged the Fleet back into proceedings with a 30-yard shot that found its way into the net even though two defenders tried their best to clear it off the line, and despite threatening in the second half, the visitors couldn’t carve out an opportunity to equalise and return empty-handed from Aggborough for the first time since 1982.

TEAM: Cronin, Ricketts, Bull, Charles, Hawkins, Bostwick (Barrett 76), Hearn, McPhee, Long, Nade (Moore 63), Purcell. Subs not used: Mott, Stubbs, Maskell.
