Fleet’s Under 18 side succumbed to an attacking Lewes in front of a good crowd in tonight’s FA Youth Cup Third Qualifying Round.
The visitors led 2-0 at the break through Tim Rivers and David Wheeler but the Fleet hauled themselves back into contention with goals from Nick Nowotny and recent first-team signing Steve Springett within 15 minutes of an entertaining second half. But two more Lewes goals – again from Rivers and Wheeler – clinched the Sussex side’s place in the First Round proper for the third season running.
