Erskine in at Ebbsfleet

Liam Daish has finally captured a striker as his hunt ended with the signing today of former Bromley and Gillingham forward Jacob Erskine.

A powerful and commited London-born striker who began his career at Croydon Athletic, he joined Dagenham’s youth academy and spent two years in Essex. During that spell, he had loan experience with Tooting & Mitcham United, Dorchester Town, Margate and Maidstone.

Released in the summer of 2009, he was preparing for life with Bromley when his performance in a friendly against Gillingham compelled Gills manager Mark Stimson to sign him. He played in the Gills 5-0 win over Swindon and made a handful of other appearances while also having a short time back on loan with Bromley, for whom he scored against the Fleet in an FA Cup tie.

After his release by Gillingham in 2010, he turned out for Concord Rangers and Swindon Supermarine and was set to play for Forest Green Rovers before the offer from the Fleet.

Jacob scored Bromley’s opening goal in their 3-0 win over the Fleet in last season’s FA Cup defeat at Hayes Lane and played alongside Ashley Carew in his spell with the Whites. He goes straight into the squad for Wednesday’s game at Lewes.
