Edser lands record season’s final award

Toby Edser was named Vanarama National League South player of the month for April in the 2002/23 season’s final set of monthly awards.

The former Woking and Aldershot midfielder closed out the month with a hat-trick against Hungerford Town and in so doing broke the 65-year-old club record for goals scored in a league season.

Edser featured in every game in April, also scoring in the win over Cheshunt and providing more assists that took him joint top of the Fleet’s goalscoring assists charts.

Edser follows Chris Solly, Dominic Poleon and Dennis Kutrieb in winning monthly awards in the South division in 2022/23.

Elsewhere in the South, Worthing boss Adam Hinshelwood was manager of the month and of more interest now to promoted Fleet fans, the National League awards went to FA Trophy-winning boss Chris Millington of FC Halifax Town (manager) and Wrexham’s Elliott Lee (player).
