Dave Archer stands down from club board position but will remain in commercial role

The club’s Board of Directors have today announced that Dave Archer has stepped down from the board, a move which formally took effect at the same time as Peter Varney’s resignation – but he will remain in his vital role as General Manager of the Fleet.

In typically self-deprecating fashion, Dave did not want his resignation from the board to distract from the send-off justifiably given to Peter Varney last month.

Dave fulfilled a personal ambition of his in joining the Board and assuming the title of Director on 1st June 2017. Fleet fans will since be aware that Dave, uncharacteristically, was off work through illness recently and did not join the Fleet Supporters’ Trust coaches on a number of away fixtures in that time. The club is delighted to report that Dave has now returned to work at the Kuflink Stadium.

Fleet vice chairman Dean Pooley said, “Dave has decided to step down from the Board but he will continue to concentrate on his role as General Manager, doing what he does best and amongst many other things, working closely with our wide range of sponsors in seeking to secure their continued commitment for next season.”

Since returning in January, Dave has been active in his position as general manager working to secure deals that will see us into 2018/19 and beyond and he continues to seek new business and partnerships for Ebbsfleet United FC in that role. The club will hopefully be in a position to confirm new and renewed commercial deals in the coming months.

Dave Archer added, “I remain committed to delivering for this club to the best of my abilities and to working alongside Dean and Stuart Butler-Gallie on a daily basis to build on the great platform that we have all established since 2013.”
