Cundle calls Kuflink home after Fleet clinch new signing

The Fleet have added a third striker to the squad this afternoon as former Gillingham prospect Greg Cundle signs following a successful trial period at the Kuflink Stadium.

The 23-year-old Bromley local has featured in all of our friendly games so far, scoring a second-half hat-trick against Punjab United and leading the line against both Dagenham and Hornchurch.

Cundle scored a hat-trick during the first friendly v Punjab United

Cundle came through Gillingham’s youth ranks and made his debut in March 2017 against Rochdale in League One. He played eight times for the Gills at that level, manager Ady Pennock praising his “natural instinct” in front of goal. He also appeared on loan for East Grinstead Town, Tilbury, Margate, Billericay Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Kingstonian, scoring 26 times in 60 games across those spells.

Following his release by Gillingham, he returned to Kingstonian and then East Grinstead, where he was the club’s player of the year, scoring 20 goals in 25 games.

That earned him a move to Concord Rangers last summer but an injury prevented him establishing himself in the side and he ended last season at Horsham on a dual-registration deal.

Now back in the National League South with the Fleet, Cundle will be looking to maintain an excellent goalscoring record in non-league football. An adaptable forward, he has played centrally and wide for the Fleet in pre-season so far.

We welcome Greg to the Kuflink Stadium and wish him a successful career with the Fleet – if you would like to sponsor him for this season, please contact Matt Faithorn on 01474 533796 or matthew.faithorn@eufc.co.uk.
