Another year for player of the year

Ebbsfleet United are delighted to announce that 2020/21 supporters’ player of the year Jack Paxman has signed a new deal for our 75th anniversary season.

The 27-year-old joined the Fleet last August and initially came in on a trial basis. It was an arrangement that boss Dennis Kutrieb needed little persuasion to make more permanent, with the boss saying, “He was one of only a few players who came in for a trial and I was convinced after the first session… he has some special abilities and I never saw him before or did any video research on him. The best thing is, there is still a lot of space to improve and I’m sure we’ll see a better Jack Paxman next season. A luxury situation for me as a manager and for us as a club!”

Paxman became the first player since 2013/14 to win the supporters’ award in his debut season at Ebbsfleet and said, “It was a season full of positives to take into the next one and I can’t wait to be back playing in front of the fans. I was over the moon to pick up the player of the year award in a strange season but we’ve come a long way in a year and I’m lucky to have a great group around me! We’re coming back even stronger next year.”

The former Southend United scholar, who first came to the attention of Fleet fans during his long spell with Maidstone United, played more minutes than any other player in 2020/21 and was often targeted by opposition managers as the man to watch to stop the Fleet dictating the game in midfield.

The announcement of Paxman’s signing is the first of many (following the earlier commitment of Alfie Egan and Chris Solly) the club will be making over coming days and weeks in what has been an extremely positive and successful recruitment and retention period.
