Trophy winner Barrett returns ? but Ginty leaves
Ebbsfleet United have resigned midfielder Neil Barrett following his release by Havant & Waterlooville – but have reluctantly released striker Scott Ginty.
Fleet boss Liam Daish commented, “Unfortunately it is with regret that I had to let Scott Ginty go and he has now left the club. Scott has been extremely unlucky with injuries and what with his recent setback and the current financial climate, I could no longer keep him here. I’d like to wish Scott all the best for the future. I hope he gets back playing sooner rather than later and scoring goals.”
Of the re-signing of Trophy hero Neil Barrett, who left for York City in 2009, Daish said “Neil has agreed to come in and join us on non-contract terms for the time being. Neil, of course, was part of a very successful team here who won the FA Trophy, knows the club, and is looking forward to being involved with us again.”
In other news, physio Stuart Phazey has left to concentrate on his career with the Army and will be replaced by the experienced and fully-chartered sports therapist Paul Smith.
And following last week’s FA Cup exit, the Fleet manager was quick to thank MyFC and the Fleet Trust for recent financial contributions. “Everyone on the playing side and management are still smarting from the defeat and will continue to do so until we get a good result or at least put in a credible performance to help us feel better about ourselves.
“I am aware of the financial loss that the club has incurred because of the FA Cup exit and know that it will have its consequences on the team in one way or another and tough decisions will be made. I am also aware that MYFC have helped the club along with The Fleet Trust this month financially to honour its commitments and I’d like to personally thank everyone for allowing this to happen.”
