What can you say after that? Couldnt argue over the first half penalties - Lance's challenge particularly was ill advised to say the least. We were lucky to go in at 1-1 as we didnt really get into the game'

We were the better side 2nd half = Ricky was so unlucky to hit the bar and the offside must have been close as well.

The decision for the 3rd penalty was awful - I dont think even their players reacted as though they were expecting it. I even heard someone say it was outside the box anyway.

Liam will no doubt be fuming. I just hope he bites his lip and avoids another ban.

The team played well and worked hard today considering the defeat on Tuesday, they made Southport look ordinary. if luck had gone our way we could have had a couple more goals.
I thought the first penalty was a bad decision, looked like a shoulder barge to me. The third looked a soft one as well. Felt we deserved a point, the ref made too many mistakes which cost us at least a point. It is a good job this game did not decide if we stayed up or not otherwise the ref could have cost the club and a few careers dear.

Liam told Radio Kent that he had no arguments with any of the penalties apparently.

I am very surprised. I was more or less level with the 3rd, sitting in the main stand & felt that any contact was made a good yard outside the box - as did everyone around me.

Worst thing for me was the way their bench turned round & gloated at the supporters behind them. One player just stood there grinning. Not seen anything so provocative since the days of Steve Evans & his bald headed dodgy nightclub bouncer assistant. Not been so annoyed since the time Aldershot's similarly qualified physio ran on & assaulted Lee Spiller.

Was the grinning player the one who injured himself after plummeting to the floor and crying like a baby after Tom touched him?

I was in Sainsbury's after the game when all the Southport players and officials arrived, largely to buy beer. I was surrounded by them at the checkout and the lady at the till struck up a conversation with the player directly in front of me in the queue. After telling her who they had beaten and by what score, he informed her that all the beer was to celebrate their victory. I had to bite my tongue very hard!

That was a truly inept performance by the ref today.
Each decision was at least "iffy", but on each occasion he was looking to give the penalty.
Our 'goal' was exactly that - the video will show there was no offside, but again, the ref was looking for a reason to disallow it.
No way could the hapless lino see it clearly with the sun in his eyes, he would have seen the defender on the line.
Simply, he is either too poor for this standard, or he a cheat.

The lino at the main stand side took every opportunity to get involved, flagging for one penalty and flagging to disallow the goal.

The other one may as well not have been there.

From the reaction of the player I would think that the third penalty was a dive. He was gloating. Another player came up and congratulated him in a manner which also suggested a dive.

I thought we were the better team throughout and deserved a win. There was some good playmaking and we put their defence under a lot of pressure at times.

As usual, the referee missed a lot of shirt pulling and pushing, and the linesman on the Stonebridge road side seemed very selective in the things he flagged for - though he rarely flagged for anything other than the ball out of play.

The cross by Ricky for our goal was inch perfect and was well taken by Ugwu.

If he hadn't thrown himself to the ground so dramatically, he wouldn't have tweaked his leg.
Should have been booked for simulation.
Btw, thanks for sorting out my admin problem, Ed.

Hopefully the cameraman will look over the video and say whether they were penalties, offside goal and dives.

I'm afraid it was very much like 11 players playing 11+1 (Referee). Not sure of the penalty decisions. I am of the opinion that the referee was upset by the stick he was getting from the Stonebridge Rd crowd and decided to punish them for his own ineptitude. What a plonker. As Liam stated on Radio Kent, he will wait and see the video before making any comments on the penalties and the actions of the referee. Further too that as he said. "It's a cruel game at times" Well done the lads. I cannot fault you for your commitment and passion. Just bad luck which seems to be dogging us these days, but all will come good in the end.
